The New Bedford Regional Airport offers free admission to the Observation Deck & Playground.
Looking for a new “spot” to visit? Stop by New Bedford Regional Airport and visit our Observation Deck! Another rarity amongst commercial service airports, the Observation Deck provides a great view for plane spotting!
The deck can be accessed during daylight hours by an outdoor stair case located close by to the front door of the airport terminal. If you are facing the front (glass) doors of the terminal, the stair case is directly to the right. The deck provides a 2nd floor view of the runways and taxiways at EWB, directly overlooking the terminal ramp. Benches on the deck providing seating allowing visitors to sit and enjoy the view for a little while too. One of the main benefits of the Observation Deck is the ability to take pictures without an airfield fence getting in the way.
If you’ve never visited our Observation Deck or if it’s been a while since your last visit, we encourage you to stop by and check it out!
The entire airport community is interested in helping young children gain an understanding, appreciation and an interest in the field of aviation. One of the unique components of the airport, which helps to distinguish the New Bedford Regional Airport from many other airports in the United States is our state-of-the-art aviation-themed playground.
As a learning resource/educational facility with the aim of getting young children interested in the STEM fields (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) at a young age, the playground provides a way for children to enjoy the airport atmosphere in a fun and safe location. The playground, officially known as the LCpl. Matthew R Rodriguez Playground, sits along the airport fence, with dedicated parking, providing a one-of-a-kind experience for visitors. The facility was moved from concept to reality thanks to the tireless efforts of the Atlantic Aviators organization, based here at the New Bedford Regional Airport.
